Hailey Baldwin and Selena Gomez |
Nothing to see here! Hailey Baldwin is shutting down rumors that she and Selena Gomez are feuding over (who else?) Justin Bieber.
The model, 19, set the record straight exclusively with Us Weekly while celebrating the opening of Magnum in NYC on Wednesday, May 18.
"I
think it sucks that people try to start things like that. There's never
any truth to that, first of all," Baldwin explained. "She's a lovely
girl. She's very kind. Her and I have a lot of mutual friends and it's
all cool between everybody. We run in the same circles." (Fans
speculated earlier this year that Gomez had an issue with Baldwin
because of her relationship with Bieber).
Baldwin, daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin, first went public
with Bieber in January, but the couple appeared to split in March. That
same month, the "Boyfriend" singer said that Hailey was "someone I
really love" in his GQ cover story.
"I
know that in the past I’ve hurt people and said things that I didn’t
mean to make them happy in the moment. So now I’m just more so looking
at the future, making sure I’m not damaging them," he added to the mag.
"What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush
into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged. It’s
really hard to fix wounds like that. It’s so hard. … I just don’t want
to hurt her."
Bieber, of course, most famously dated Gomez, 23, on and off from 2011
to 2014. "I’m proud of the woman she is today," Bieber told Billboard in November 2015. "When you love someone that much, even if something comes between you, it’s a love that never really dies."
