A prominent
Liberian businessman, Attorney George B. Kailondo, has announced to the
public that very soon Liberia will boast of its own airline, called "Air
Monrovia".
Mr. Kailondo, who
spoke in an interview with the Daily Observer yesterday, said his plan
to invest in a commercial airline is intended to put Liberia on the map
of economic improvement in the sub-region and to further advance his
businesses as well as buttress the government's development agenda.
"Come this 2016, we
will have Air Monrovia. We will have two jets. It will come to pass at
the end of June of this 2016," Kailondo disclosed.
Kailondo is the
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kailondo Petroleum (KP), Kailondo
Filling Stations, Kailondo Hotels and several other businesses in
Monrovia.
"What Lebanese and
other foreign nationals can do, Liberians can also do it and even go
beyond. But the support is what we Liberian businesses need," he said.
He mentioned that the new investment is also intended to provide jobs for his compatriots, many of whom are jobless.
Speaking further the prominent Liberian businessman thanked the almighty God for making his dream a reality.
"Aircraft allows
people to have adventures in new countries, to relax on tropical
beaches, to build business relationships and to visit friends and
family. As our economy grows, aviation is the factor that brings people
together," he noted.
Mr. Kailondo said
he will continue to work diligently and honestly for the enhancement of
himself, people and country. "The sky is my limit."
At the same time,
Mr. Kailondo has encouraged his fellow Liberians to support Liberian
businesses, because foreigners will not build Liberia, but Liberians
themselves.
He said business
and leisure travellers to Liberia will experience the airline's
hospitality as it extends operations to other African countries come
June 2016.
Atty. Kailondo then
urged Liberians to take advantage of the business sector adding: "With
sincerity and honesty, and don't get distracted by detractors, and the
sky will be your limit."
