Do YOU want better SEX? Share the dirty work, study says

REVEALED: The secret to a good time between the sheets might be taking turns to wash them.

Forget oysters, date nights and foreplay.

A successful time in the sack starts with a mop and bucket, new research has claimed.

Reportedly, the secret to a good time between the sheets may be taking turns to wash them.

The study, from the University of Alberta, found couples enjoyed more frequent and satisfying sex when the housework is split equally between men and women.

The secret to a better sex life is splitting the housework evenly, according to new research

Dr Matt Johnson, a family ecology professor who headed up the study, said sexual habits will naturally vary for each couple.

He said: “In any relationship, the amount of housework is going to mean something different based on the couple’s context.

“Based on their own expectations for what each partner should be doing, and their comparison levels of what happens with other couples they know.

The raunchy research examined 1,338 German couples over a five year period.

Interestingly, Dr Johnson’s study contradicts American research on the topic conducted in 2012.
The US study, from the American Sociological Review, claims couples have less sex when a man performs ‘traditionally female’ housework such as laundry and doing the dishes.

Dr Johnson, who has a background in couples therapy, said the discrepancy comes down to cultural differences between the US and Europe but the skew was somewhat surprising.
He said: “If the logic held from the prior studies, we would have expected (male housework) to have a negative impact on sexuality in Germany because it’s a bit more traditional.

“But that wasn’t the case at all.”

Dr Johnson’s findings have been published in the paper ‘Skip the Dishes? Not so Fast! Sex and Housework Revisited.’
