Sir Cliff Richard: 'Police ready to hand sex abuse evidence files to prosecutors'
DETECTIVES are reportedly ready to ask the Crown
Prosecution Service whether Sir Cliff Richard should be charged over sex
abuse allegations.
Police are reportedly ready to hand evidence files to the CPS Police
investigating the claims made against the 74-year-old singer are
expected to hand evidence files to prosecutors within a fortnight,
reports the Sunday Mirror.
It comes over a year after police
raided Cliff's Berkshire home in August 2014, after they responded to a
complaint to the Metropolitan Police's Operation Yewtree.A source told the publication: "The police are desperate to avoid a situation where they can be criticised again.
"That is why they want to hand all the responsibility for what happens next to the CPS."

The star is currently on his 75th birthday tour The
service makes the ultimate decision to charge anyone suspected of
committing serious crime in the UK, reviewing all evidence gathered by
investigating officers including victim allegations, witness statements,
forensic evidence, CCTV images and interviews with suspects.
A spokesman for the CPS said: "We haven’t yet received a file. When we do, we will confirm it."
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "The investigation is ongoing."
The
news comes as Cliff continues on his six-day sell-out tour, in
celebration of his 75th birthday - marking his first return to the stage
following the allegations.
