DETECTIVES are reportedly ready to ask the Crown Prosecution Service whether Sir Cliff Richard should be charged over sex abuse allegations.

Police are reportedly ready to hand evidence files to the CPS
Police investigating the claims made against the 74-year-old singer are expected to hand evidence files to prosecutors within a fortnight, reports the Sunday Mirror.
It comes over a year after police raided Cliff's Berkshire home in August 2014, after they responded to a complaint to the Metropolitan Police's Operation Yewtree.
A source told the publication: "The police are desperate to avoid a situation where they can be criticised again.
"That is why they want to hand all the responsibility for what happens next to the CPS."

Cliff has denied the sex abuse allegations made against him

The service makes the ultimate decision to charge anyone suspected of committing serious crime in the UK, reviewing all evidence gathered by investigating officers including victim allegations, witness statements, forensic evidence, CCTV images and interviews with suspects.
A spokesman for the CPS said: "We haven’t yet received a file. When we do, we will confirm it."
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "The investigation is ongoing."
The news comes as Cliff continues on his six-day sell-out tour, in celebration of his 75th birthday - marking his first return to the stage following the allegations.
