BREAKING: Real Madrid dismiss Benitez, name Zidane new manager

Multiple reports from Spain, including news outlet ONDA CERO, indicates Real Madrid have fired manager Rafa Benitez.

Real Madrid top brass held an emergency meeting Monday morning and determined it was in the clubs best interest to let go Benitez and promote football legend and current Real Madrid Castilla manager Zinadine Zidane to the post, according to Marca.
Head Coach of Real Madrid CF Rafael Benitez reacts during the Valencia CF vs Real Madrid CF as part of the Liga BBVA 2015-2016 at Estadi de Mestalla on January 3, 2016 in Valencia, Spain.

Benitez was under fire from the moment he was hired by senior first-team players who felt he did not bring what they needed to compete for a La Liga championship.

Madrid tied Valencia 2-2 on Sunday which was the final straw in a long list of failures the team has endured under Benitez. They were thrashed 4-0 by archrivals Barcelona in the Clasico in November and were unceremoniously expelled from the Copa del Rey after fielding an ineligible player.
