At least nine hungry reptiles were lurking in the murky waters below as Josh Beaudoin, 33, traversed the taught tight rope in Colorado.
The brave stunt man, a professional slackliner from Alaska, performed the risky manoeuvre above an alligator-filled swamp, and even managed to do the splits while balanced just a few feet above their open jaws.
He said: "When you are in my line of work the 'what ifs' are entertaining to think about and at times very important, but it is important to acknowledge fear but you must not let it control you.
"The more you embrace it with a smile and can back it up with experience.

He added: "Walking and surfing over them definitely got their attention. There was one point when I was surfing and the alligator got within a foot from my foot."
