David Moyes is set to enquire about Manchester
United winger Adnan Januzaj.
The 21-year-old is available for loan
and Sunderland were interested in signing the Belgian 12 months ago before his
unsuccessful move to Borussia Dortmund.
He appeared only six times for the
German side before returning to Old Trafford in January.
It was at the Stadium of Light in 2013
that Januzaj scored twice in a 2-1 win on his full debut for United, whose
manager at the time was Moyes.
The former United boss wants to build a
side capable of achieving more than their annual scrap against relegation.
Moyes said: 'We have a big club here we
need to take forward.
'We need to make sure it isn’t us
celebrating staying up.
'That can’t be the goal. It’s not my
goal, that’s for sure.'
The Black Cats are yet to make a summer
signing, although former Aston Villa winger Charles N'Zogbia is with the squad
in Evian-les-Bains ahead of their pre-season training camp.
N'Zogbia scored the winning goal at
Rotherham on Saturday as Moyes watched his first game since taking charge of
the North East club.
Sunderland's flight to France on Sunday
was diverted to Manchester Airport after a technical fault forced an emergency
landing.
