Real Madrid Colombian upset over lack of playing time |
James Rodriguez has decided that
his time with Real Madrid is coming to an end, frustrated at a lack of
playing time and how his second season at Los Blancos has turned out.
Only two weeks ago, agent Jorge Mendes played down talk of an exit
claiming that the 24-year-old was non-transferable but after a
disappointing season in Spain, James has had other ideas.
Before leaving for the Copa America with Colombia, James made it
clear that he demands more playing time and it is believed that Zinedine
Zidane's decision not to play the 80 million euro signing at any point
during the Champions League final victory over Atletico Madrid was the
final straw.
James has seen Lucas Vazquez and Isco move ahead of him in the
pecking order and while they were both introduced by Zidane in the
final, the former Monaco player remained as an unused sub.
"I'm not here to be on the bench," the Colombian said after the final.
Despite this, the situation remains calm with no animosity between
the two parties; James celebrated lifting the trophy with his teammates
while the club are satisfied with his contribution.
James' release clause from the contract he signed in 2014 is a
staggering 500 million euros which obviously prices him out of the
market.
However, Real do not want to hold a player at the club against their
will and so despite not actively seeking a sale, the attacking
midfielder may still be available this summer.
