The Welsh star is feeling confident in his side's chances of winning the
Champions League, and claims they are prepared for whatever their city
rivals throw at them.
Gareth Bale has revealed that Real Madrid are prepared for whatever Atletico throw at them in Saturday's Champions League final.
Bale was on the victorious team when these two side's faced in the
2014 final, when his extra-time goal helped secure Real Madrid's tenth
European major honour.
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone said he expects Real to play on
the counter-attack, but Bale says they have a 'few' game plans, and will
adapt to whatever Atletico throw at them.
"That depends how they set up," Bale told The Guardian.
"Games against Atletico are always very physical. They're very defensive and make it very difficult to break them down.
"It is about taking our opportunities because they're not going to
give us a lot. If they attack us, we can defend and hit on the counter;
if they don't attack, we can't counter.
"But we have a few game plans. We can keep the ball, counter-attack,
defend. When the game comes, plans sometimes go out of the window,
though."
Bale went on to claim that the experience of the Lisbon affair two
years ago has made him much more relaxed ahead of this year's final.
"I feel more relaxed. I suppose you've had the experience so you know what to expect," he said.
"Last time I was nervous but now I feel like I know how to deal with it. Hopefully that can improve my performance."
