Zinedine Zidane spoke to the press ahead of his first Madrid derby as the Real Madrid boss.
Injury bulletin: "Marcelo has a calf strain. He
hasn't trained and he won't be in the squad. Pepe has worked out on the
pitch, [Gareth] Bale is still on the fringes and everyone else is fine".
His first derby in charge: "What matters to me is
for us to play well. We've had a good week and we're well-prepared to
produce a good performance. It's a derby but it's just another game, in
which we have to give our all and stay true to our playing philosophy,
as ever. Obviously it's going to be a tough test".
Message to the supporters: "I'd like the fans to go
all out just like the players, and to get behind the team the way they
always have. That's all. It's a derby and it's special".
Karim Benzema: "He's very important to our team.
He's capable of doing anything at any given time. What's important is
that, as well as his goals, he works his socks off. It's not all about
scoring, you have to play well too".
Will Real Madrid throw in the towel in La Liga if they lose?:
"Let me be straight: no. Whatever happens, we're not going to relent
until the end; there are points to play for. I'm being straight with you
here, that'll be the case whatever happens. Dropping points can only
make things tougher, but we've got games ahead of us, we've got the
Champions League to keep us focused and our season doesn't end
tomorrow".
