Oliseh confirmed his resignation in a series of tweets on his handle
in the early hours of Friday. Oliseh was due to meet with the Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF’s) technical committee today to discuss about
the team’s preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers,
particularly about the match against Egypt.

A reliably source gathered
that Oliseh had actually resigned on Thursday night in two letters he
sent to the Minister of Sport, Solomon Dalung and the president of the
NFF, Amaju Pinnick, but when no acknowledgement came from both quarters
as expected, he decided to go public with the information on Twitter at
around 3am.

The former Super Eagles captain and member of the FIFA elite
Technical Study Group (TSG) was appointed barely eight months ago in
July 2015.
According
to the content of the letters and the tweets, Oliseh is unhappy with
the constant violations of contractual agreements between him and the
NFF; unpaid salaries and lack of adequate support from the national
football body.
His letter to the NFF president read in part: “Due to incessant
Violations of our signed agreement (Contract) I am hereby informing you
of my decision to terminate our working collaboration signed in July
2015.
“… unconducive(sic) working conditions that my coaching crew and
myself have to live with, your contractual violations and the interest
of the nation necessitates that I tender my resignation and recourse to
the termination of our working agreement.”
But some sources have accused Oliseh of being cowardly, saying that
the timing of his resignation, which took place deep in the night and
when NFF president and other top officials were away to the FIFA
Congress in Switzerland called into question his own character.
SuperSport further reports that Oliseh actually resigned after being paid the backlog of his salaries which had been owed him.
The NFF has also confirmed the development with its Secretary
General, Mohammed Sanusi, who is currently in Zurich, Switzerland as
part of Nigeria’s team to the FIFA Congress, saying that the
Federation has received Oliseh’s letter.
“Yes, we have received a letter from him and I can tell you he has resigned as coach of the national team (Super Eagles).
“I can’t tell you the content of the letter yet because we haven’t
met to deliberate on it. We are in Zurich for the Fifa congress but as
soon as we are through with the meeting, you will be in the know,”
Sanusi told SuperSport.
