Isa, who is a retired brigadier-general, was arrested on Wednesday, January 6, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), at his Asokoro residence in Abuja.

The political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, was grilled for several hours in connection with about N170 million he received from Dasuki.
The APC chieftain and a member of the 19-man Buhari Transition Committee was released after refunding N100million to the anti-graft commission, promising to return the remaining N70million soon, Premium Times reports.

According to a source, some of the suspected recipients of the slush funds who claimed they were not aware the money sent to them was taken from the public till were given opportunities to return what they got from the former NSA but refused.
A close associate of Isa who spoke to Premium Times said that Dasuki put over N100 million into Isa’s account in instalments to buy a house, located on Mohammed Mohammed Avenue, Kano, for the former NSA.
The deposits were in turn made by Isa to the owner of the house, Ali Tukur, in two instalments.
However, the house purchase deal collapsed as Yarima Ngama, a former Minister of Finance, reportedly offered to pay the sum of N150 million cash when Dasuki reneged on the payment agreement.

In another development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the release of Isa, a chieftain of the APC and associate of President Muhammadu Buhari after he was arrested by EFCC.
The party in a statement released onSunday, January 10 and signed by Barr. Victor Kwon, the national legal adviser of the party, said Isah’s release was a clear indication that the APC-led administration is on a man-hunt against PDP leaders.
