Be more proactive in the fight against Boko Haram – AIG

He noted that the insurgents are more dangerous now than before as witnessed by the numerous explosions in mosques in the North East region
Tunde Ogunsakin, Commissioner of Police

Tunde Ogunsakin, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 12, on Monday charged men of the Borno State Police Command to be proactive in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency.

Ogunsakin gave the task in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, while fielding questions from newsmen on the sidelines of his visit to the state.
He said he was in the state to boost the morale of the men of the command, especially in their battle against the Boko Haram insurgency.
He noted that the insurgents are more dangerous now than before as witnessed by the numerous explosions in mosques in the North East region.
He said the insurgents would soon be history but Nigerians needed to be alert to the new threat of the terrorist group.
Ogunsakin said: “It is a known fact that the insurgents will soon go into extinct with the combined efforts of the Nigerian security to meet the December deadline of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“That is why everyone need to be on red alert to combat them as they are more dangerous now than in the past.
“Recent happenings have shown that just like wounded lions, the insurgents are deadlier and more dangerous than in the past, but this is a battle that our gallant police officers are ready for and definitely are winning.”
However, the AIG warned that he has zero tolerance for act that would disrupt peace and order in any of the states under his control.
Ogunsakin said: “We must overwhelm any persons or groups that will rise to disrupt public peace.
“I urge you to continue to work assiduously and seek your cooperation and commitment towards ensuring that law and order is maintained in Borno State.
“It is important to let you know that the Nigeria Police has a key role, synergizing with other security agencies, in ensuring that peace is restored back to the entire North East.
“In this light it is expected that you will be alert to the performance of your duties at this critical time.
“I will not condone any form of dereliction of duties from any officer under my control.”
